ANKARA - The Turkish government sentenced to 12 801 police officers were suspended from duty. They are suspected of having links with scholars based in the United States (US), Fethullah Gulen, and networks. Gulen and his network in accusations of masterminding a failed coup in July.
This step was taken after the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an investigation and a day after the Turkish government extended a state of emergency for three months, as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (04/10/2016).
Of the number of police were suspended throughout Turkey, 2,523 of which is the chief of police. While the number of members of the Turkish police about 250 thousand as reported by broadcaster CNN Turk.
About 100 thousand people in the military, civil servants, police and courts have been dismissed or suspended in a cleanup operation after the coup. About 32 thousand people have been arrested for being involved in the failed coup.( Read also: These adverse effects dinner above 7pm )
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey benefit from an extension of a state of emergency for three months was announced after the July 15 failed coup. Erdogan said to have more time to hunt down those responsible for the coup. Erdogan even open up the possibility to last for more than a year.
