BEIRUT - Lebanese Army Special Unit raided a post ISIS on the
outskirts of Arsal on the border in the northeastern part of the country
on Thursday (4/8) and catch some terror suspects.
"Patrol attacked a military intelligence post in the Regional ISIS Wadi Ata in Arsal, where the unit is capturing some very dangerous terrorists. Those detained were sent to a military barracks," said National News Agency (NNA).
According to media reports, those arrested was Lebanese Tareq Al-Fliti and Sameh Al-Breidi and two Syrian citizens who have not been identified. The attack was not claimed any casualties.
People detained were reportedly involved in the action of entering the car attached explosives to Lebanon, the killing of an army major and a sergeant I and the war against the military in clashes in Arsal.
The Lebanese army engaged in fierce fighting against members of ISIS and al-Nusra Front, which has links with Al Qaeda, in August 2014 on the outskirts of Arsal. Before withdrawal to Syria, rebels abducted 31 soldiers and police, and later al-Nusra Front killed four of them and ISIS behead one more person.
Nine personnel are still in captivity ISIS.
ISIS militants and al-Nusra Front, who changed his name to Jabhat al-Sham Fateh after separating themselves from al-Qaeda, took refuge in the rugged terrain along the border that have not been demarcated between Syria and Lebanon. The military routinely bombed their positions, while Hezbollah and the Syrian military has clashed against them across the border in Syria.
