Jerusalem,- Israeli authorities have acknowledged that the country illegally took over land belonging to Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in order to expand the illegal settlement Ofra.
(Days of Palestine reported on Wednesday (10/08) that the Israeli Government admitted in the High Court of Israel if they "mistakenly" has taken over 45 dunams of Palestinian land to expand the Ofra settlement near the Palestinian Silwad neighborhood, east of Ramallah.)
In the court the Israeli authorities also said that the Israeli government is currently preparing a new plan that exclude Palestinian land where a number of residential units built.
The recognition came after a group of Palestinians filed a petition against the seizure of their lands, which the petition is supported by documents showing their ownership of the land confiscated.
Lawyer Tawfiq Jabareen said many illegal settlers living on land belonging to Palestinians. He hopes landowners to file a petition calling for the evacuation of settlement units.
