Turkey Rejects US Claims about truce with the Kurds

ANKARA, -Turki on Wednesday rejected the US claims, saying that the Turkish army has reached an agreement for a temporary pause by Kurdish militias in northern Syria.

Minister for EU Affairs of Turkey, Omer Celik said, "We do not accept under any circumstances a 'compromise or truce reached between Turkey and Kurdish elements'. Republic of Turkey is a sovereign state, which is legitimate. You can not say the country has reached a deal with the terrorists ".

Turkey looked Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed wing, YPG, as an extension of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a banned militant group, which has waged war on Ankara over the past three decades to establish autonomous Kurdistan. YPG, however, supported by the US in the fight against ISIS. 

Celik added: "PYD activities in northern Syria favorable terror group and not the Kurds."

Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that "the operation will continue until all threats against Turkish citizens have been eliminated. Apart from the statements made, the situation is clear: the PKK, PYD, YPG all the same and hurt Turkey. We are steadfast in our stance ". 

On Tuesday, the US has announced that the Turkish army and YPG has reached an "agreement" to end the fighting in Jarablus and focus on the fight against ISIS. 

Col. John Thomas, a spokesman for Central Command US, told AFP, "This is a deal that is loose for at least a couple of days and we hope that it will be even stronger." He added that Turkey and the Democratic Forces of Syria (SDF), which consists of Kurdish and Arab fighters, has opened up communication between each other nor with the US. He described the agreement as "encouraging" 

Last week, Turkey launched an offensive against Kurdish militants ISIS and simultaneously.
